1,200 battery trays a week

The story

From a welded prototype to series supply in fourteen weeks.

Voltline came with a prototype tray welded by hand. We moved it to the robot cell, added a leak test at the end of the line and ramped from 40 to 1,200 trays a week, with PPAP approved at the first submission.

A machinist looks into an open CNC machining centre

  1. Read the drawing

An engineer goes through every tolerance and datum with the customer's designer and marks what drives cost before a price is given.

    Day 0
  2. Fixture and programme

We design the workholding, write the programme and simulate the cut, so the first part off the machine is already close.

    Week 1
  3. First article

The first part is measured on every feature. The report goes to the customer and the run waits for their sign-off.

    Week 2
  4. Run, measure, ship

Series parts are checked in process and at final inspection, then packed with the report that carries their serial numbers.

    Every batch
In the customer's words
They told us our weld design would distort before we had paid for anything. The change they suggested is in production today.
